Retail Dive, Februrary 21st, 2019
According to a Garnier press release, 10 Walmart store locations will be piloting Garnier's Virtual Shade Selector, a tool that uses 3D technology from L'Oréal's Modiface unit to help shoppers choose and "try on" hair color products, beginning February 2019.
The Virtual Shade Selector was originally launch as an online tool, but the brand is now rolling out a shelf-based version for in-store use. Shoppers can use the shelf-based display to learn about Garnier's hair color product options and take a 60-second diagnostic test and "try on" a range of recommended Garnier shades.
Although Walmart is the first pilot retailer, Garnier plans to launch the technology in 37 stores of select retailers.
