Walmart recently partnered with Nuro, a robotics company, to bring autonomous grocery delivery to Walmart shoppers. This new partnership is being tested with a group of customer volunteers with future plans to hone a broader roll-out in Houston, TX later in 2020. The service uses Nuro's R2 driverless vehicles which carry no driver or passengers. The cars will deliver a full assortment of groceries from fresh produce to pantry products.
Currently, Walmart offers online grocery pickup at more than 3,000 stores and delivery from around 1,600 locations. These services have helped attract busy shoppers who want low-cost groceries without the hassle of going in-store and have helped guide the launch of this new service.
