Walmart Cuts Price-Matching Sparking a Social Media Upset

On March 14th, Walmart will stop offering its Savings Catcher price-matching service in stores. The service offered gift cards to customers who submitted electronic receipts for comparison with other retailers advertised priced. However, according to Walmart, "[their] prices win most often when you submit your receipts, which tells us that the program's intent has been met."
Walmart announced the change to customers via email and resulted in hundreds of shoppers complaining on social media. Some shoppers even shared screen shots of their savings totaling hundreds of dollars and threatened to shop elsewhere.
Despite the negative response, Walmart still plans to end the service and moves forward with plans to shift services around shopper convenience, delivery, online ordering and store pickup.
