Safe, Easy and Full of Joy: Inside Target's Strong Holiday Season

A Bullseye View | January 13, 2021

Throughout 2020, Target teams worked to meet guests’ changing needs, preparing for a holiday season unlike any before. Here's an inside scoop of Target’s strong performance in November and December 2020 -

Same-day pickup and delivery

Sales on industry-leading contactless same-day services—Drive Up, Order Pickup and Shipt—grew a combined 193% as more guests made them a part of their routine and leaned on them for holiday must-haves. In December alone, guests purchased 150 million items using Drive Up and Order Pickup -- almost four times more than during that timeframe last year.

Hot deals- all season long

With safety top-of-mind, Black Friday had a different approach, offering big savings throughout the entire season and enhancing Target's Price Match Policy. Target even announces it's stores will be closed all day long on Thanksgiving Day 2021, since the response was so positive in 2020.

Top Sellers

Family sleepwear sets (sold a pair nearly every second), Christmas tree ornaments (guests bought enough to decorate 120,834 trees) and nearly 2 million of popular Wondershop gingerbread houses.
