Nordstrom Local Expands Store Base In Los Angeles
Forbes | October 27, 2020
The Nordstrom Local concept is proving successful even in these competitive times. Two more stores will open in Los Angeles. The 5 units that are already open are productive and helping customers in the pandemic period caused by COVID-19.
The Nordstrom Local stores are support units for Nordstrom stores in the trading area. The neighborhood service offers customers opportunity to access more Nordstrom products and service at a location that is convenient to them. Sure, customers can pick up online purchases, but the added touch of personal service is important - they can also speak to consultants about styles and maybe a complete wardrobe. The stores will offer tailoring and alteration services. Customers can even have purchases gift wrapped.
The Nordstrom Local stores are relatively small but powerful and designed to provide services and convenient access to merchandise to help customers. The Newport Beach store will by about 1,183 square feet while the Manhattan Beach unit will be about 1,886 square feet. The stores will have curbside, contactless pick-up. Merchandise ordered in a nearby main Nordstrom store will be available in the Local store the next day.
Even in this pandemic year, Nordstrom has found a very productive way to reach out and facilitate safe and convenient shopping by building these units. It is Nordstrom’s heritage to take care of customers, and the new Local stores give customers special care and trust. And, that’s just what retailers need to retain customers, build loyal and grow their sales profitably.
