7-Eleven Expands Evolution Store Concept

Retail Dive, February 28, 2020
The overwhelming success of 7-Eleven's Dallas Evolution store, which opened last spring, has "exceeded the retailer's expectations," according to the company press release, and has paved the way for a nationwide expansion as high-tech competitor Amazon Go continues to grow and evolve. Similar to the Dallas location, the new San Diego and Washington, D.C. locations will have a Laredo Taco Company restaurant, made-to-order food, new slurpee flavors, cold treats like frozen yogurt, and specialty beverages on tap including cold brew coffee and kombucha.
The latest iterations will build on the beta store in Dallas by expanding to new categories like electronics and beauty. Delivery of snacks, groceries and household essentials will also be available to the new locations with the company's 7Now delivery app. Additionally, a dedicated space called "The Cellar" will be located exclusively at the San Diego store offering wine and craft bees, as well as a growler station with rotating tap beers.
